Cannot install yum getting error message ‘/media/CentOS/repodata/repomd.xml does not exist’
I have installed CentOS on the system of mine. Well I am looking to install Yum on the computer of mine but it did not seems to be installing. Where ever I am trying to do the same it is prompting with an error message. I have already searched on the Google to get the solution but it did not working at all. I am asking to all of the users if they are having any particular solution to get the requirement of mine. Any help would be highly appreciated. Thanks a lot in advance.

I have seen number of users who are having the same problem which you have mentioned over here. I want to know some more information which you should answer so that I can figure out where is the issue. Can you tell me which version of the CentOS do you have installed on the computer? Can you tell me which version of Yum you are trying to install? You told me that you are getting an error message on the screen so post the entire error message over here. So answer the above mentioned question as early as possible.

Looking at the problem which you have mentioned over here I am suspecting that this particular problem is occurring due to C5-media enabled on the phone of yours. Well it needs a mounted DVD. You should simply disable the C5- media on the phone of yours and see whether you are able to install yum or not. Once you completed with the same you can enable the C5- media on the computer of yours.

Re: Cannot install yum getting error message ‘/media/CentOS/repodata/repomd.xml does not exist’
I am suspecting that there is an issue between the version of the CentOS and the yum which you are trying to install on the computer. I am doubting that you are having 64 bit version of the OS and you are making an attempt to run the yum install script which is looking like i386 packages. So I think you need to get the correct version of the yum so that you can have the installation of yum successful on the computer of yours.

Looking at the problem which you mentioned over here I am having doubt that there is a bug into the code file of the yum. Hence I am suggesting you that you should file a bug report to the developer of this particular software. You should provide the entire information regarding the system configuration and the error message which you are getting on the computer. they will let you know about the possible solution to troubleshoot the problem of yours.
