Format Painter does not work in Excel 2010
hello guys, I make use of the Excel all the time and my Format Painter does not tend to work. Neither does Ctrl Shift C, Ctrl Shift V. in addition it came into view that the excel seems to open in Compatibility Mode each time and I by no means notice it doing that previously. To discuss the problem in deep , when I tend to click on the button the cell would appear as if it had a selection box around it for a split second along with then it would vanish right away making it not capable to paste formatting once more.please provide some appropriate solution and hope you guys provide some working solution which will be graeat. Thanks in advance.

I need to say in this case which will prove essentila. I made an installation of Skype Click to Call and I came to notice that the Paste Special problem across all my Office 2010 application on Windows 7, Chrome 17.0.963.79 and whenever I opened Google Chrome. Ten after my friend sugegsted ,I just made an uninstallation of Skype Click to Call and the issue has been solved. I did not have to uninstall Skype 5.5.124.so you can try with this solution if you are having similr isuses and it will definitely work.

The issue will arise if you have Skype installed. I was having same issues when I was making use of both IE8 but also fails with Google Chrome. I as well found it would not cut as well as paste formulae. It was solved after closing all browsers but it is so annoying. A 'repair' did not resolve anything.though I retraced all I did just previous to the error along with I seem to have fixed the concern by uninstalling SKYPE and then making a reinstallation of it. up to now I have been able to open excel spreadsheets as well as IE8 and Google Chrome with I am at present still able to gladly make use of format painter and cut and past formulae. I haven't yet made use of Skype but shall go away that test for afterward as I am too far behind on the excel work I require to do.

I am also ahving same issues and I made such attempts earlier but it was not solved and later made an Uninstallation of Office 2010 / 2007 . but it was not solved yet. I then came across this issue in some forum site and there is most probability that an add-on in Internet Explorer is causing the issues. You can look for items such as Skype and similr to it and disable those otherwise simply open internet explorer in safe mode as well as test. If Excel functions normally with IE in safe mode, then there is an add-on which is the main reason behind it and the one which is causing problems. In the run line, make use of this command:

Code:

iexplore.exe –extoff

and all will be solved.

It has been previously said to repair office , but I am totally opposite with it and you don't try an office repair. It is Skype click to call. You can follow this steps which will help you in your case.

1. First of all you need to close Excel
2. Then you need to start Firefox in safe mode (disables all add ons)
3. And then you can try with paste special in Excel problem will not be there.
4. Then again Close excel
5.and start Firefox normal
6.you can attempts with paste special problem will be back
7. Close excel
8. If you are making use of firefox, you need to disable Skype click to call.
9 then you can restart firefox along with restart excel and then Try paste special and it should work right.

this will definitely work in your case.

Re: Format Painter does not work in Excel 2010
Guys please help me in my case as it has not solved yet. When I was making some attempts to copy a formular from one cell to one more it will not tens to work. It just copies the value as well as not the formula. If I make use of the "fill" funtion by dragging down the square which is present in the bottom right hand corner of the cell it will not tend to work . in addition , the formula does copy down. But when I tend to copy along with paste it only copies the value. I as well came into view that when I press copy (or Ctrl +C) the squiggly dotted line does not come into view around the cell I am copying as it more often than not does. I in addition noticed that the format painter is not working moreover.this is ridiculous. So I have upgraded to 2010 and the issue is still persisting. When I open these spreadsheets on other system it will tend to work fine. So guys can you make out what could be the areson behind it and please assit in my case.

In this case, I was looking and looking for a solution to the same issue as described. Stumbled onto this thread, but after I have uninstalled Skype Click-to-Call the issue was solved .this will definaley solve your issue as my frined also had the same issue and he was too ,looking for an option which would solve his issue . but it was really solved after he came across this post. He says that he would have never thought Skype Click to Call would have get in the way with the paste characteristic of excel, but as soon as he made an uninstallation of the Click to Call, paste special furthermore format painter was back and there were no issues and it was acting normally again. it's not just format painter but no matter which making use of the clipboard. Control-C, Control-V were not able to copy the format either, but at this moment it does all over again.so hope this one helps you in your issue and all you need is to try this option.

I will suggest that the better option id you are having any issues regarding this case would be one that was to remove add-ins in any program running or to attempt the problem in safe mode. Just make a try with it a d let us know if it really solves the issue. And if safe mode or disable add-ins works then you could reasonably say something that was added in was the problem.

But I will suggest you guys that just don’t go for the option of office repair. That can insert thousands of changes into the problem along with some more issues on your way. You can also make some attempts with starting with other programs running, in addition with the running one thing at a time and don't "assume" the problem is within office. A repair is not something that should be recommended as an early troubleshooting march.it ha also seen that it turns of the problem is a recognized bug with Skype Point-to-Click which is it appears that hooking the paste purpose.

Re: Format Painter does not work in Excel
I had the same problem with Excel's Format Painter. Based on the advice posted in this forum, I uninstalled Skype, re-started windows, and then the next time I opened Excel, boom the problem was gone! As simple as that.

There is no way I would have figured out this by my own. Who would have thought that the problem was created by Skype. Thank you to the Forum.
