First of all you should check that if there is a bak file exists within the message store. If then you can remove that dbx file and rename it as dbx. If it isn't previously within the message store after that you can go to Recycle bin and right click on bak file and select Restore from the options popped up. Open message store backup as well as modify file extension as of .bak toward .dbx. Close message store and run OE. The messages must be back in folder this time.

you should not store mail within default OE folders. This is because they will ultimately turn out to be degraded. Make your personal user defined folders meant for storing mail as well as move all mail in them. Clear the deleted Items folder on a regular basis. Maintain the folder created by user under 300MB and Default folders as blank as is possible. Turn off the e-mail scanning within the antivirus which is installed in your computer. It is a superfluous layer of defense that consumes CPU and reduces the sending as well as receiving speed. This causes a crowd of issues like time-outs, account setting modifications and have dependable for lost of messages.

Welcome in advance.
You can use DBX recovery tool from sysinfo tools. It will surely help you to recover your DBX files. Several times I used it, so I better know about its performance. You are just having 2GB of data, I had more than 2.5GB of data which I easily recovered from this tool.
You are in need, must use it. It will be great.
And don't forget to get me your feedback about this tool.
