Yes this is true and here is the method for installing an update on the home interface that contains the update launcher. If you have a SanDisk flash drive, you can download an updated boot interface that contains the Initiator version from the SanDisk website. If the unit is from another manufacturer, you can only upgrade to a beginner which has this correction as part of the upgrade of the interface at the site. When an update is available then the interface beginning with version 1.2 onwards.
If you have previously installed an earlier version of the home interface in the system, uninstall it before installing the new window using the "Setting the U3 Launchpad" from the U3 Launchpad and select "Remove starter." Then, install the new launcher from the Interface version by following simple onscreen instruction.

It is very important to disable the password protection. If you find that the password protection is enabled then it might create some problem with the upgrade. So first disable the password protection and then proceed with the upgrade.

You can also install an update file launcher with U3LauncherSetup.msi. If you cannot find an update on the home interface in the manufacturer's Web site to resolve this issue, download and run the U3LauncherSetup.msi. When you run this file, install the Launcher that came with the 1.2.0.9 version of the home interface. If for some reason you cannot access the home interface to remove the previous version of the launcher from the Settings page of the U3 Launchpad, you can also use the "Add or Remove Programs" Control Panel in Windows before installing the new version of the file U3LauncherSetup.msi Initiator.

There is one very important thing that people hardly find anywhere else is that If your version of pen drive device is 2.17, 2.18, 2.19 or 2.20, you need to run the installer of the U3 Launch pad on a machine with Windows XP in order to perform the update.

It is very important to check for the version of the device for the upgrade. Here is the steps for that:
1. First of all open the U3 Launchpad.
2. Go to the Help and Support and click on About the Unit U3.
3. Check the version of the device.

U3 programs are no longer available for download from SanDisk. U3 program that's already installed on your station, you will save as the "backup data" feature during installation. You can also use the 'system' and 'documents' folder copy the data partition from your backup to your own programs to recover. Before you install or remove the update does for the U3 Launchpad, make a secure backup of all your data from the U3 drive.
