Hey I have gone through to your question and I wanted to give you some information which will be helpful to you also it will increase your knowledge. When your PC is in standby mode it means it is on ACPI S3 mode, at that time only RAM is powered to prevent data which is also going to be erased as it is Read only memory. When PC is on standby mode, no software /code will execute because the CPU is unable to execute any instruction as well, it will also not do anything when PC is on C1 power state. So as per my statement no software is required to save power while PC is on standby mode.

Hello, that’s really a good question and answer as well; I also have some information to give you all. Well looking at above case I am completely agreed with the above statement, but in case of power saving there is open source software which will help you to save power consumption when you are using your PC or dual booting. Granola, this is the name of power saving software as well as it also helps the nature, I mean it is a eco friendly software. This software saves the power by 35% when you are running your PC as well as dual booting or anything else. Let me clear this will not work for standby mode, infect no software works for standby mode. Thank you!

Hello friends, I am writing some information with installation and compatibility of Granola software. As it is the open source it will work on every operating system, it majorly require DVFS (Dynamic Voltage and Frequency Scaling). DVFS is available with almost every modern Intel and AMD processors, but it requires to be enabling in the BIOS. It require the following OS for better performance:

* Debian 5.0 and unstable
* Fedora 8-12
* RHEL 4 and 5
* SLES 10
* Ubuntu 7.04-10.04
