Memory cannot be released when VMware fusion 4 is paused
I'm running Windows 7 with VMware Fusion Pro 4 on my MacBook Pro 2, in testing the new "Pause" feature; I realize that iStat menus on the Mac shows vmware-vmx process continue to consume 1.27GB of memory, while the machine virtual paused. Could some settings on my computer hardware being the cause of the memory will be released or might be misunderstand the role of the "pause" according to Fusion 4?

If you wish for the vmware-vmx process (which is the actual virtual machine) to release the RAM then you necessitate to suspend or shutdown the virtual machine.

Indeed, while only 2 GB of RAM allocated to virtual machine also blocks 256 MB of virtual graphics card and that's why we're seeing more than 1 GB using vmware-vmx process.

Just read this completely and you will understand pause function.

Pause Function -If you are running multiple operating systems simultaneously and will speedily free up valuable system resources for more important tasks, the new "Pause" feature to instantly stop the selected virtual machine and free your CPU and RAM allocations without having to suspend or off.
