New to PC Video, frustrated with MS
I bought a Sony Multifunction DVD Recorder, VRD-MC6, to copy some VHS tapes to DVD.
That done, I tried viewing them on my PC, (XP SP-3), and could not, so I downloaded VLC Media Player, and I can now watch the DVD's.
That done, I wanted to chop those DVD's into smaller sections, to make smaller videos, (like what you would see on YouTube).
Windows Movie Maker, and another program I tried (Virtual Edit) won't recognize the .VOB file type.
Why isn't this stuff seamless?
Any recomendations for what I can download next?
I'm on a network, so Cnet type sites are locked out.
Thanks,
Gary

There are many converters available on the net to cut, convert video file format. There are a Few Vob/Mpeg2 cutters that are freeware like "Chopper XP" or "Mpeg2Cut" that you can find and download and install, if you do a Google search. You can also use DVD2AVI to convert the files to AVI or better yet you can use "Virtual-Dub-Mpeg2" which you can download. Hope that helps.
