Windows Installer encountered a problem..
Hi,
My problem is that whenever I try to install my wireless software it crashes and closes when I press the 'next' button to start the installation, it looks like this when it fails: Error fail.bmp
Things I've tried:
Reinstalling Windows Installer 4.5, no effect
Turning on Windows Installer Service, already on
Using Windows Installer Cleanup utility, no effect
Updating Windows, no effect
I'm using Windows XP Home Edition SP3.
Any other suggestions on what to do will be greatly appreciated!

Try to reinstall Windows Installer

Well, as you said you have already tried so many troubleshoots but still you facing the problem. I can also see on Microsoft download page that is completely compatible with XP SP3. But on one of the forum i found this "Also the donwload version only applies for Windows server 2008". I dont agree with this. Anyways, the last thing i can suggest you to try is Download a fresh copy of Windows Installer 4.5 and see of it works.

Tried downloading from the link you both gave me and installed it although on running my setup software again it still crashed with the same error.

Don't worry guys, turns out my wlan device didn't need that setup after all, unscrewed my laptops case to find the model # of the wlan device and googled a driver for it. Feel so dumb for not trying that sooner
