The pioneer of netbooks has unveiled the specifications of its first two tablets. Surprisingly, the manufacturer adopts Windows 7 as a reference system for its offensive touch.
The Computex tradeshow in Taipei has opened its doors and the ads of competitors to the iPad raining already. First nominated, and Asus its Eee Pad available in two complementary models.
The EP121, first, is designed to use Internet and multimedia in a domestic setting. With a screen of 12 inches and a processor Intel Core 2 Duo CULV, it embarked Windows 7 Home Premium.
The manufacturer claims a battery life of ten hours for the device and the presence of USB ports and a webcam. A docking station with keyboard is also available, for a more professional use.
It thus comes into direct competition with the ExoPC Slate also has a 12 inch screen and Windows 7 with an overlay graphic house.
A shelf 10 inches for travelling
The EP101TC, is built for more mobile use. The display switches to 10 inches and Windows Embedded Compact 7 replaces the PC edition. Asus does not indicate the level of connectivity, or the autonomy as expected.
The two tablets are expected in the U.S. at first quarter of 2011 at prices ranging between $ 399 and $ 499.
