Cannot update QuickTime
Hi friends, I am notified about the QuickTime updates but whenever I go to install the updates it always fails to update and a error message is displayed saying Getlasterror 5:! I don’t understand why it always fails to install the up date even if it is available. I am facing this updation problem since past two weeks. I can’t even uninstall the QuickTime application. Does anyone have any idea, why a window is not allowing me to update the QuickTime. Please help me out of this problem.

Re: Cannot update QuickTime
You have got a strange problem. Windows is notifying you to update , but when you go ahead to update you are getting error. Ok I will try to help you out. You are unable to install/uninstall error because you have not installed the Quick time application properly. You may face this problem also because of partial uninstall. Try to reinstall the same version of QuickTime that you are presently using. If it is possible for you to get the same version , then try it.

Re: Cannot update QuickTime
From where did you get the installation setup for QuickTime. Did you get download it from the internet. I am asking this because if you have downloaded it, then it is possible that you have downloaded the corrupt installation file for QuickTime. Make sure that you the QuickTime setup file is not corrupted. If so, then you need to clean the system. Check if you have deleted any folders or file due to which you are facing this problem. Try to reinstall QuickTime and then update it.

Re: Cannot update QuickTime
Check the registry for entries. Check for the .inf file if you can find it. Did you try to uninstall the Quick time and have aborted the uninstall process in the middle. It is possible that if you aborted the uninstall process in the middle, the partial uninstall might be preventing you to remove the QuickTime. I am sure that a file associated with the installation might have got corrupted.

Re: Cannot update QuickTime
You are getting Getlasterror 5:! Message while updating or uninstalling Quicktime then Microsoft suggests installing a registry entry, adds a command "Grant Admin Full Control". There is another option to remove QuickTime. Delete all the QuickTime folders. Go to start, in the search type QuickTime and start searching. Delete all the files and folders that are found. After you are done with it, now you can reboot and install the QuickTime.
